AM about the Dragon Age toolset
Alan Miranda attended to the last Builders Event at Bioware, where many creators from the NWN community got to test the DA tools. Gamespy has some info about the event, including an interview with Alan. http://pc.gamespy.com/pc/dragon-age/1005288p4.html

As I mentioned in the interview, the Dragon Age toolset is fantastic! And playing the game was lots of fun too. Don't let that Marilyn Manson "The new %&*#" trailer put you off the game (and I'll freely admit I was put off by it). DA is just like BioWare's good old isometric RPGs but improved.

I tend to ignore marketing campaigns, for two reasons: If it's good, people can get too hyped up for the game and as a result. the game doesn't match their unattainable vision of brilliance. (ME2) If it's bad, it puts people in a sour mood towards the game. (DA:O) EA/Bioware has done this with both of their upcoming releases. However while I did not like the DA trailer, I am actually found of the new site and the blood dragon design.

I hate mindless killing just for the killing’s sake and would not be able to play a game of this kind. But now I will reconsider and probably buy it, after all.

Re: AM about the Dragon Age toolset
The marketing managed to align me in the "might buy" camp as well. At least now I am un-disappoint-able! I'll try to do the wise thing and ignore the marketing like hybrid, especially with the chance of (cough) quality user-created mods. Alan Miranda wrote: DA is just like BioWare's good old isometric RPGs but improved. I'm not challenging this claim at all (I am in fact greatly excited by it), but I would be curious to learn in what areas it has improved. DIVULGE ALL! Uhh, if you can. Pretty please. :)

Well, I really can't. However, I can say that one of the things I liked about NWN1 was the interaction between opponents in combat (parrying, side-stepping, etc.), something which was unfortunately lacking in NWN2. I wasn't disappointed with DA.

Re: AM about the Dragon Age toolset
Did anybody call in sick from work to go buy & play Dragon Age all day? I think it came out today.
I might have if i had a computer that would run the game. Sadly my machine is too SLOW.

Re: AM about the Dragon Age toolset
Hey J,
Not sure what you have for a system that you say it will run slow with DA:O, but I wouldn't call my system top notch,
IT P4, 3.o GHz, Win XP Home SP3, 2.5 GB Ram, and an x1650 Pro PCI-e 512 MB Vid Card, stock power, case, and cooling. Bought my system from D**L approx 5 yrs ago now and I'm quite satisfied with it. NWN1 played great, NWN2 looked and played Great, and I did kind of play DA:O a little just to set up my keyboard but haven't got into it yet. And the Witcher Looked and played Great. All set to around medium settings or a little higher, it's not a Crysis system by any means but then what system is, LOL.
I am back in time right now and playing the old C-64 game Bards Tale via emulator, one more tower left. After that I start and finish MOW. Sorry Alan I had to start something waiting for my PayPal transfer to go through for MOW LOL.
However, I'm reluctant to upgrade to another computer as this one has served me well and has been basically trouble free sense I bought it, nothing game breaking or system breaking just done basic maintenance and redid windows once only because I read that it isn't a bad thing to do maybe every 2 yrs. so I did.
If your the type that needs to max out settings then I suppose you'll have to upgrade, but if you just what a nice experience, fun and trouble free I feel my system is a good starter.
Cheers! Ambrose
